But frankly it is a pain in the fanny. I gave up on little Poco who has the most annoying habits when I want to sleep. Since he has been sleeping while I have either been on the computer, reading magazines or watching TV, when I finally think I may be able to sleep, he barks to go out. Never mind that I asked him before hand. (During the day and earlier evening, if I ask him “Do you have to go?” and motion with my hand towards the door, he will make an immediate move to jump down from where ever he is to come with me. When he has no interest, he doesn’t move.) So it really gets to me when I ask him multiple times as I am brushing my teeth and getting the pillows and covers all adjusted and he gives me his “I don’t have to go now” look, only to want down the minute the light goes out and I am still.
That is the first annoying habit. Secondly, he loves to chew on his toy as I am trying to sleep. Normally, he is under the covers, between my knees or ankles and is poking my skin with the pointed hard end of the chewy toy. When I am trying to sleep (on my side) he MUST be against my chest and right under my chin so when he chews this obnoxiously SMELLY toy, I get the waft of urine right under my nose. Gags me!
The final one is the one he pulls lastly, just as I am dropping off to sleep. He will push his toy off of the edge of the bed and then yap for me to pick it back up. Just as I am dropping off to sleep. OR, he will walk over my body and decide to sleep on the other side—his bony little feet poking into my soft flesh and hurting enough to make me awake again.
So tonight, he went down to the daybed where his crate is located. He can sleep on the bed or in his crate, and he has piddle pads and fresh water, so I don’t have to wake up at 7:30. It is almost 5:30 now!
We are finally having summer and it is “my kind” of summer. Most of our warm days so far have been in the 70s. We have only hit 83 as our high. We are forecast for hotter Saturday and Sunday, but seeing is believing for me.
I nearly killed myself Wednesday working for 5 hours in the new unit. I got out of 3 of the others, and am finally saving some $$. After I do some sorting and dumping (now that I know what I had IN those units) I can get out of another one and save even more. What is so gratifying is that because of the window and the 4 overhead fixtures, there is plenty of light to see what is there and to be able to dig through and sort to get rid of stuff.
I desperately need a haircut and Poco MUST get to the groomer to have his nails cut and his fanny glands squished out. He is the first dog I can remember who chews his nails if they get long. Maybe others have done it, but I can’t remember. He is shaking his head a lot and digging at his ears, so I figure they also need cleaning out. I used to use Ottomax on the Poodles, but my Chi book says their ears are hard to dry out, so I don’t want to cause dampness and an infection. I will try to e-mail Julie this week and see what she says.
The Asian lilies are all finished blooming now and the calla lilies are all gone. There needs to be a lot of major trimming to tidy up the bushes. The days are long enough to get a lot more done than I am doing, but it is because I just don’t have the endurance I used to have. I have had several days in the past week where I was working for 6 or 7 hours without being off my feet and it was really hard on my system. I can’t believe how much I have slowed down in the past few years.
I find that I am again grinding my teeth in my sleep. I am actually terrified of Romney getting one of those wins like Bush got. Republican governors in swing states are getting laws on the books that demand photo IDs and so many poor people won’t have them so they won’t be able to vote—and they would be voting Obama. His tax plan hikes taxes on my level but not on the upper ones, and he plans for radical cuts in Social Security, and that will change my life. So I see polls where he is leading and I hear the people around me who HATE him and I am just so dismayed at their stupidity and the amount of anger they feel for him. I HATE FOX news, I can tell ya. People believe them, and all they do is twist the truth and tell boldfaced lies.
I am watching some of the Olympics. I’ve managed to see several of the major swimming events and some of the Ladies Gymnastics, but I somehow missed seeing the Men’s and I love watching them on a lot of the equipment. There was no M’s game tonight, but they play 9 or 10 games in a row against top-flight teams on the road for the next few days. The league always schedules them to be out of town during SeaFair to reduce traffic. So while the Blue Angels are in the air and a mini Naval fleet is anchored in Elliott Bay, our guys are in New York and Boston.
Thank goodness football is starting! I think we have a better team than the talking heads on sports TV channels realize. I was so sorry to hear that our best running back was pulled over for driving under the influence when he was down in San Francisco this summer. He had been a Bad Boy when he played on the east coast, but when he came here, Pete Carroll had laid down the law and Marshawn had appeared to take it seriously. He may be fined or he may have to miss some games. I hope they take the money and let him play.
The sky is turning pale and the sun will soon be up, so I MUST try to get some shut-eye. I have to go back to the big unit aqain today. There are a few things in the next door unit that didn’t fit in my new one because the guys plunked it down and I couldn’t move around. Lindsay said I could store a few things in the front of the empty unit next door till I made more room, but I don’t want to end up getting charged a daily fee. I know already that I am going to feel tired.
I hope you are all well and happy and not too warm. We are supposed to be in the high 70s today with clear skies. Love it!
