THE DEMOCRAT'S OPENED THEIR CONVENTION TONIGHT

I am so pleased with what I have seen so far at the Democratic convention. I hope it means that the Dems who have been so uninvolved will finally get active.

I signed up for a neighborhood committee online and have already heard from the 2 women who are heading up the County group and the North Kitsap group where I live.

Before I signed up, I received an invitation to watch the election returns on Big Valley Road.  I have not driven out there yet, and I think I am going to EML the host and tell them that I am not capable of making any meaningful contribution (more then the frequent very small ones that I make online) and find out if I will not be very much out of place if I go.  Otherwise, I think it would be great fun to watch with election returns with people who share my opinions and values.

I also have to find out if the Seahawks happen to be playing that night.  It comes on a Thursday night, and the NFL has Thursday night games.  If the Seahawks are playing an *important* team—meaning one from an eastern city with a far better team than ours—we may be scheduled for TV that night.  In that case, I think I would want to stay home.  I can watch the game and check on election results during the commercials.  Hate to put the President behind the Seahawks, but I just love that team.

Poco has developed some very bad habits lately.  I thought he had progressed to being trusted to walk from the door to the car with a trip to the ferns beside the carport to empty his bladder prior to our car ride.  But today, I let him out and turned to lock the door.  When I turned back around, absolutely NO SIGN of my dog!  I called (with no response) and walked toward the street to see if he had gone into the neighbor’s yard.  HA!  He had not only gone into the street, but he had crossed it and gone down to where Joanne lives.  (She is the woman that I SWEAR he knew in another life.  He loves her far more than he loves me.)  What’s worse, when he saw me, he made no move to show any trepidation at my anger or any concern that I was even calling him.

I am finding it so hard to feel the same about him as I have about all of my other dogs.  They all treated me as if I were their whole world.  Poco has AWAYS  treated me as “food provider” “water giver” and “cage cleaner.”  The only time he even pretends to love me is when he wants to be massaged and or petted.  I feel so frustrated most of the time.  He refuses to learn to walk nicely on a leash.  He will for a while—but then he will revert to Monster Mutt and will pull wildly and run at cars.  Sometimes I want to open the door and let him go.  But so far, I have restrained myself.  In my current frame of mind, I am calling him a Republican.  I sometimes wish he was MItt Romney’s dog!  He deserves to take a long ride on top of the car and be miserable like he makes me.

WORST of all, I was getting up a good head of steam in my closet bedroom and didn’t look at the clock.  In fact, I forgot that this was the first work day after a holiday.  Thus, I MISSED Poco’s veterinary appointment for his booster shots.  I had specifically requested Julie, and then I forgot.  We rescheduled for Wednesday the 12th in the afternoon.  I wrote the time on a piece of typewriter paper and I’m going to tape it to the mirror where I brush my teeth.  It is not up yet because I have to find the scotch tape.  I wish I could reverse engineer my DNA so that I would have some from my son.  He has a place for everything and everything is in its place.  I’m not responsible enough for that!  (sniffle)

It is evident that I am having a “Poor Me” episode.  Maybe my sugar is low because I am not allowing myself any Coke late at night.   I just had some celery with a little bit of Pimento cheese from Kraft.  (Better than the Banana Split I was contemplating.)  Sigh………..

I splurged on my 2 magazines today.  I buy both Woman’s World and For Women FIRST so that I can work the crossword puzzles.  They are made for the poorly educated or the mentally challenged because I can usually get them all right.  I am a miserable failure at the NY Times ones.  They use all the dorky little words that I have never seen and am not even aware of their existence.  I get very few of those right.  But today I got 2 extra ones—specials on Halloween decorations.

I have BONES on the On Demand channel.  I have missed so many of their episodes during baseball season.  The M’s lost to the Red Sox tonight and one of our best players—a really sweet guy, and one of our best players—was evidently injured while I was watching the Convention.  I have to post this and then go to the M’s site to see how bad this one is.  He has had injury after injury and has to work so hard to rehab.  His name is Franklin Gutierrez and he is our regular center fielder.  I hope he isn’t hurt too badly.  Not again.

I hope everyone got to hear the convention speeches.  I just loved the young Latino Mayor of San Antonio.  He is a brilliant speaker and if he is as astute a politician as he is speaker, he will have a great future in the Democratic party.  I have to e-mail my friend Ros and ask her if she heard him.  She is a Republican, so I doubt that she watched the convention.  I was amazed at all the great speeches that I heard on follow-up shows, and so angry that we didn’t get to hear all of our speeches from the convention floor.  The stupid Republican convention got full coverage by CNN.  Probably Romney money from the Koch brothers.  Crapola!  At least, the ones I heard were inspired, and I hope they motivated some of those who have not gotten into the election yet to get involved.

I was amazed at how few people made any comment online about First Lady Michelle Obama’s speech.  I thought it was one of the very best speeches I have ever heard.  It was exemplary in it’s means of panning Romney.  She didn’t say his name ONCE—but everything she used to illustrate who she and Barack are, was in direct opposition to what Romney is.  I was particularly taken with the way she described her affection for her husband.  And I was a little taken aback by how poor they were when they were dating.  She said that she could see pavement passing under the car as they drove on their dates.  That is a pretty poor conveyance!  LOL

I hope all of my friends are asleep by now. It is 12:30 and I am going to work on a crossword puzzle. I hope President Obama is feeling good. I still have the front page of the San Antonio newspaper that Ros sent me when he was elected on the front of my fridge. He is fading a little, so I hope she will have to send me another one this year!

By the way—I have no idea what happened here.  Some of these paragraphs were way down at the bottom of the letter and I just deleted space, but it has put them all out of place.  I am too tired of typing to mess with it, so I hope people can follow along anyway.  Bummer!
